About Me
I have always loved art, but focused on science in high school to pursue a Biology degree to make a living. After retiring from almost 40 years in the oil & gas business, I am pursuing my art interests - including becoming a cookie artist! It has been an amazing journey for me!
In June 2016, I challenged myself to make French Macarons! I tasted my first macaron a couple of years prior, and it was nothing like I expected! I was smitten with how delicious and perfect it was – and it was also so pretty! I found out that Macarons are notorious for being a fussy little cookie to make, but I love making them ... and photographing them!! I also challenged myself to flood a cookie properly. I realized this was the perfect creative outlet for me – making edible art, and making special orders for my amazing clients!
My efforts were well-received by family and friends! With their strong and loving encouragement, and a gentle ‘push’ from my special ‘girl boss’ friend, Dana, owner of Platinum Studio Hair Salon, I started Done and SugarDusted Confections in November 2016, a Texas cottage bakery.
In 2019, we decided to relocate to Southwest Florida, and will continue cottage baking here, serving clients local to the Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Estero & Naples areas.
I am so thankful for the excellent information and guidance I found online with the incredibly talented cookiers and their generous social media posts, videos and blogs – especially Sweet Sugarbelle, Sweet Ambs, and Julia Usher! I feel so lucky to have found such an amazing community of artists, bakers, and creatives!!
